Amatller Institute of Hispanic Art Foundation

In 1941, Teresa Amatller, daughter of Antoni Amatller, established the Amatller Institute of Hispanic Art, in consultation with Josep Gudiol Ricart. The foundation has the twin aims of preserving the Casa Amatller complete with its collections, and of promoting research into the history of Hispanic Art.

Legal status: Private foundation governed by a board of trustees. Registry number 289 in the Generalitat de Catalunya’s register of private foundations.

Foundation date: February 9th, 1941 - order passed by the National Ministry of Education, August 14th, 1942 (published in the Boletín Oficial del Estado (Official State Bulletin) August 21st, 1942).

          Constitution certified: March 1st, 1943 (Arxiu General de Protocols de Barcelona – Registry of the Notary José Faura Bordas –document nº 736, March 1st, 1943).
